To help every student have access to technology for learning, Bellefontaine City Schools provides eligible students with a district-issued Chromebook. The annual $50 Technology Fee helps support the district's one-to-one technology program by providing students with the equipment and technical support needed for school.

Please note: The technology fee is not an insurance policy and does not cover accidental damage, loss, theft, or repair costs. Families remain responsible for repair and replacement costs as outlined in the Student Electronic Device Usage Agreement (found in Final Forms).

● District-issued Chromebook (Grades 6–12)
● Chromebook charger
● Protective carrying case
● Access to district-approved educational software and applications
● Technical support from the Bellefontaine City Schools Technology Department
● Labor for repairs completed by the Technology Department (parts billed at market price)
● A temporary loaner Chromebook, when available, while a device is being repaired
● Graduating seniors (Class of 2026 and beyond) may keep their Chromebook after graduation at no additional cost once all school fees and repair costs have been paid. 

● Cracked or broken screens
● Damaged keyboards or missing keys
● Broken chargers
● Damaged batteries
● Broken hinges
● Damaged cases
● Lost or stolen Chromebooks or chargers
● Damage or vandalism
● Devices damaged beyond repair (liquid damage, fire, food, biohazards, severe abuse, etc.)
● Replacement laptop bags if lost, stolen, or damaged
● Any repair or replacement costs resulting from misuse or negligence 

No. The technology fee helps provide access to district technology and support services. It is not an insurance plan and does not waive repair or replacement costs.

All repairs are completed by the Bellefontaine City Schools Technology Department or its designee. 

Yes. When available, the district may issue a temporary loaner device so students can continue learning.

Yes. Beginning with the Class of 2026, students may keep their Chromebook after graduation once all repair costs and school fees have been paid. 

Schoology 

Our district uses Schoology, a digital learning management system for grades 6-12. Teachers post assignments and resources, review student assignments, and facilitate discussions and collaboration using this platform. Students can access materials and assignments anytime and communicate with teachers and classmates.  Schoology is a digital classroom designed to support students. 

Activating Parent Accounts 

You will need the Parent Access Code your child brought home from school and emailed to your student's District-issued gmail address. To create a new Parent account, please follow the step-by-step instructions below:

1. Go to Schoology.com
2. Click "Sign Up"
3. Click on the "Parent" Button
4. Enter your Access Code your student brought home to you and was emailed to your student's account. It should look similar to this: xxx-xxx-xxx
5. Fill out the form with your information
6. Click Register to complete

When you use a Parent Access Code to create an account, you will be automatically associated with that student. To associate additional students to your account, click on the Add Child button in your Schoology account. You will be prompted to enter the access code for your additional child(ten). You must have an access code for each of your children at initial setup. You can then use the linking feature to toggle between accounts.
