BCS students shine in Lee’s Wall of Fame on 5-19-26

Bellefontaine City Schools is well represented in the Wall of Fame at Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken in Bellefontaine.

The Bellefontaine Police Department, Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken, and 98.3 WPKO & 107.3 The Drive unveiled the newest Wall of Fame members Tuesday night.

Four students from Bellefontaine City Schools and two students from Calvary Christian were honored during the ceremony at the restaurant.

The inductees were chosen by staff members for their leadership, selfless service to others, and dedication to making our community better.

Each school was asked to select one student and provide a summary of why the student was chosen.

Their photo and summary are featured in the Wall of Fame display in the restaurant.

The inductees include:

Gabriella Whitt, Bellefontaine Elementary School, 1st-grader

Ella has definitely impressed upon me her willingness to be not only a good student, but also an amazing person. Ella speaks to others with respect and kindness. She is thoughtful in her actions and with her words. She goes out of her way to create notes of encouragement for those feeling down or to spread cheer. She always puts forth her best effort in all aspects of her learning, from listening during lessons to independent and group work. She is helpful and kind to all classmates and staff members — offering greetings, smiles, a polite manner, and jumping in to help when someone appears to need it. I'm so proud to call her a member of my class and am honored to spend first grade teaching and learning alongside her. Keep up the awesome work Ella — you're definitely going places!!!

Jace Guthrie, Bellefontaine Intermediate School, 5th-grader

Jace's teachers report that he is always prepared for class and decides every day to give his best effort. He comes to school each day with a great attitude, follows all directions, pays close attention to instruction, and is generally ready to learn. Jace is kind to his peers and treats everyone with respect. He is always willing to pitch in to help, and he will always make sure his classmates feel included and supported at school. We are so lucky to have Jace as a student at BIS. Keep up the good work, Jace!

Feenix Johnston, Bellefontaine Middle School, 8th-grader

Feenix is an 8th-grader whose strength of character really stands out. Despite facing significant challenges in her personal life, she comes to school with a commitment to doing her best. Feenix performs well academically as a result of her hard work and perseverance. What really sets Feenix apart most is her genuine kindness — she treats everyone with respect, offers support to peers, and contributes positively to our school community. Feenix's ability to rise above adversity while remaining compassionate and dedicated makes her an exceptional role model and a very worthy candidate for this recognition.

Maya Shazier, Bellefontaine High School, 11th-grader

Bellefontaine High School is proud to nominate Maya Shazier for the Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken Wall of Fame. Maya is a junior who brings consistent positivity, energy, and kindness into our building each day. Her cheerful spirit and welcoming personality make a meaningful impact on both students and staff, and she is truly a bright presence within the BHS community. Maya is always hard-working, kind to others, and committed to doing her best in the classroom. She takes pride in her learning and approaches her schoolwork with dedication and responsibility, consistently striving to meet — and often exceed — the expectations of her teachers. Even during challenging moments, Maya demonstrates impressive resilience and maturity. She chooses to focus on the positive and approaches obstacles with a mindset of growth and optimism. Her strong work ethic and commitment to her education are evident in everything she does. Maya is a dedicated and motivated student who continues to grow both academically and personally. She treats others with respect and kindness, and her positive influence helps uplift those around her. Maya’s character, determination, and consistent effort make her highly deserving of this recognition.

Eli Keller, Calvary Christian Middle School, 7th-grader

Eli has shown grit through all of his trials this year, pursuing God with every step. He is authentic in his walk, always asking questions to see how he can be better no matter what the situation is. He is always the first to volunteer to help out wherever is needed and works hard on every assignment given to him. He is an effective leader in his class, including everyone and always being an encouragement.

Allena Miller, Calvary Christian High School, 12th-grader

Allena is a quiet servant leader who works hard at whatever she does. She has grit and is not afraid to do hard things. She is authentic in who she is and what she believes. As a senior at Calvary, Allena has demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment to her community. She serves as president of ASB after three years of active involvement and is a two-year member of the National Honor Society, a four-year member of Key Club, and a dedicated participant in Calvary Drama Productions. Allena has also represented her school at Logan County Student United Way meetings for the past two years, showing her investment in the broader community. Marked by authenticity and humility, Allena lives out her faith by co-leading a weekly Bible study for younger girls and encouraging their spiritual growth. Her servant leadership, integrity, and desire to equip others reflect a genuine commitment to making a positive and lasting impact.
