Rivon named BCS Teacher of the Year

Heather Rivon

Bellefontaine Middle School teacher Heather Rivon is the district’s winner of the 2025 Quest Federal Credit Union Teacher of the Year Award.

Rivon is finishing her 4th year teaching for Bellefontaine City Schools. She teaches middle school band.

Rivon said, “There are so many inspiring Bellefontaine teachers that deserve this award, so the fact that I was nominated for Teacher of the Year is such an honor. I wouldn't be half the teacher I am without the support of my fellow Bellefontaine teachers and administration, especially my amazing music team. It is a privilege to teach so many talented, kind, smart, silly, and creative young musicians each day. I'm grateful that I get to pour back into the band program that helped shape me into the teacher I am today. Thank you to my husband Ricky for all of your encouragement and to all who nominated me for Teacher of the Year. Band kids are the best kids!”

Rivon was nominated by her three fellow music teachers (Ken Hoffman, Brice Henry, and Laura Mitchell) and multiple students.

Quest Federal Credit Union honored seven outstanding educators at their annual awards banquet Monday afternoon at the Sloan Kitchen at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center.

One recipient was recognized from Bellefontaine City Schools, Benjamin Logan, Indian Lake, Riverside, Ohio Hi-Point Career Center, West Liberty-Salem, and Calvary Christian.
