Alumni Spotlight:

Kelsey (Morris) Spoltman alumni spotlight

In this week's Alumni Spotlight, we're catching up with alumna Kelsey (Morris) Spoltman, 2006.

What are you doing now?

I went to Manchester University in Indiana and graduated with a degree in elementary education and special education. I taught special education at Summit Middle School for 6 years where I also coached cross country and track. I then took a position as the Director of Religious education at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton in Fort Wayne, IN while I finished my Masters of Theology from Notre Dame. After two years of being a DRE I took a job at Most Precious Blood Catholic School where I am a 5th and 6th grade science teacher and 7th and 8th grade religion teacher. This is my dream job and so blessed! I married my husband, Nick, in 2017 and we have 3 beautiful daughters: Amelia (6), Charlotte (5), Zelie (11 months). We live in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

How did BCS prepare you for this role?

BHS prepared my for my life beyond high school by having so many teachers that believed in me and challenged me to be the best I could be.

What is your advice for current Chieftains?

Don’t be afraid to try things outside of your comfort zone and stretch yourself. You won’t regret trying things, but you will regret not trying. Be kind to everyone.

Who at BCS inspired you?

Coach Davis was the best! He always saw the good in me and pushed me in ways I needed. He was encouraging and helped me see I could always give more. This is something I now take into life not just with my running. I have him to thank for so many things in my high school career.

What was your favorite memory from your time at BCS?

I have so many, but I would say marching with the band at home football games.

What was your favorite meal in the cafeteria?

The French fries! You could get them every day!!
