Tyra-Lee Russell-alumni spotlight

Alumni Spotlight:
In this week's Alumni Spotlight, we're catching up with alumna Tyra-Lee Russell
What are you doing now?
I currently reside in San Diego, California where I was born. I have been married 15 years and have 2 beautiful boys ages 14 and 8. We love to go hiking, visit as many beaches as possible, and when we are not at little league, martial arts, band, football, robotics, or any other millions of extras my kiddos are into, we attend San Diego Padres games. We also are a part of a Jeep club and love to go offloading whenever the desert isn't too hot. I have a Bachelors of Organizational Management from Purdue University. I work at San Diego Gas and electric where I am one of 4 women in my role in over 300 men. I pride myself knowing that in a predominantly male role, I can still succeed.
How did BCS prepare you for this role?
To have grit. To believe in myself and stand up for what's right.
What is your advice for current Chieftains?
Don't let anyone tell you, you can't. Because “can't” shouldn't be in the vocabulary. Everyone can somehow.
Who at BCS inspired you?
Senor Thompson RIP
What was your favorite memory from your time at BCS?
I would say euchre tournaments in senior classes, fiestas, my freshmen choir trip to Disney world, or the Philly/NYC Thanksgiving day parade and band trip.
What was your favorite meal in the cafeteria?
Taco salad bar or stuff crust pizza.
